evil genius is...

a collaborative effort between James "Hollis" Smith and Geof Smith. It is a forum, a petting zoo for homeless ideas—sort of a creative bus depot, sheltering transient thoughts. It's the closet containing the severed heads of their victims, the root cellar housing your taxidermied mommy, the trunk containing the bodies of two hookers from Fresno. Craven's face, the evil-g logo, has become synonymous with the word quality... and with the word synonymous. Enjoy—as best you can—evil-g's stories, poems, reviews, essays and songs. Like-minded individuals are encouraged to contact Geof and James about any of their past, current or future film projects. Please wander aimlessly on evil-g's links page while at work. And don't feel guilty about it. After all, your company doesn't pay you nearly what you're worth.

P.S.
People sometimes ask if James and Geof are related. Though they sometimes believe they were separated at birth, the answer is no. Circumstance has thrown them together—not unlike Rosie Grier and Ray Milland—and the result has been equally brilliant.

JAMES...

lives in Manhattan, and is Editor at a national magazine. A former breakdancer born and bred in Hollis, Queens, NY, James has authored many screenplays including Burnt, Absurdist, and The Bee Goes On. He has written many essays, short stories and poems, all of which have been rejected by the finest magazines.

James was one half of the infamous comedy team James & Ted, featuring Ted Alexandro, and will be seen performing his one-man-show, Character in NYC this summer.

James is also lyricist/vocalist for bedwetters, U.K., and when not touring the chitlin' circuit, he can be found scouring record stores for anything by the MC5 and Fela Kuti. He has finished filming a darkly comic short with his former stand-up partner, Ted Alexandro. They hope to produce their full-length screenplay, The Bee Goes On, in early 2004. James is also working with Jordan Weiss of Wizdom Productions on a music and comedy album under the pseudonym of Machine Levine.

GEOF...

works in New York for a well-known but financially-troubled children's book publisher. He is also a freelance writer. So far, he has written only for children. He hopes evil-g will spotlight his works that aren't very grown-up, but aren't really for children either.

In his free time, he plays hockey. He is a proud Ranger fan who counts his attendance at the 1994 cup-winning game as one of his greatest achievements.

Geof has recently finished packaging DVDs and videos of Boy Toys, his remake of William Friedken's Cruising, using miniatures of party-size proportions that put the "action" in action figures. If you're very nice to him, he just may send you a copy. Yes, Geof can and does work with humans. In fact, he's now preparing to film a version of James's one-man-show, Character. And there are times when James is almost lifelike.
